It is sad that we now live in a culture of death that seems to have permeated all aspects of daily life. TV, movies, books, advertisements, etc., are all now throwing ghosts, vampires, and zombies in our faces daily.
While watching “Les Miserables”, I wondered if the “culture of death” entertainment industry, which raved over “Les Miserable”, saw it as part of the death culture. After all there is death, killing, suffering, pain, and even ghosts. If this would be the case, boy, did they miss the message! Amid all the suffering and pain there lies hope, forgiveness, acts of kindness, and God.
It was truly a joy to watch a movie where prayer and adoration of Jesus were so prevalent. That famous last line “To love another person is to see the face of God”, is the very message of Christ.
This message does not mean to love a person that already loves you…that is too easy. It is the loving of our enemies, those who persecute us, those who make us suffer that is the message. For Jean Valjean to truly be at peace, he had to forgive and love his persecutor. That is the message that Christ preached and lived. It is never enough to just love our friends and families. We must make an effort to know and love the poor, the afflicted, the dying, the diseased, the innocent unborn….All of these have a God-given soul that is created in His image. If we see only the outward appearance – we do not see the face of God.
Only we can change this culture, by not buying into these messages and not supporting the various TV shows, movies, books, etc that feature the message of death. It is time to Stand Up for Life! Be brave like Jean Valjean, live a life like Christ, by doing acts of kindness every day.
Tell your family and friends be apart of your movement. LITTLE ACTS OF LOVE (LAOL).
Together, we can get out the messages of Christ.
Romans 11:33 How great are God’s riches! How deep are His wisdom and knowledge! Who can explain his decisions? Who can understand His ways? As the scripture says, “Who knows the mind of the Lord? Who is able to give Him advice? Who has ever given Him anything, so that He had to pay it back?” For all things were created by Him, and all things exist through Him and for Him. To God be the glory forever. Amen.
C’est Bon
Love,
